You use coupons because you want to stick to the family budget, and odds are you have kids in tow or have somewhere else to get to. When using coupon,s stress can get the best of you at the check-out. If you are also price matching, you must be on top of your game to keep the cashier smiling.
When standing in line and you get that wet feeling creeping down your back because you have a stack of coupons to hand over, there are ways to ease your anxiety!
Don't worry, I have some stress free, time saving ideas for you!
Here are 8 Ways I find Helps make the Transaction an Easy one!
- Plan ahead- Pick a day that works best for you and sit down and plan your shop. Look on-line for coupon match ups and deals to save time. There are many sites dedicated to couponing.
- Mark or Fold the Pages of the Flyer you are Price Matching- I always find it easy to fold the flyer if there is one product I am price matching and lay it on the product. This way the cashier knows before scanning you will PM that product.
- Place product on the belt with the UPC code down- Save the hassle of looking for the UPC code by keeping it down for the cashier. She/He will be happy you did!
- Tell the cashier you have coupons-I always like to inform the cashier at the beginning that I have coupons. That gives him/her the opportunity to let you know how they would like to handle them.
- Put products you have FPC's for at the end- The biggest waste of time I found was when the cashier had to go looking for a price for an FPC (free product coupon). I find it much easier to keep them at the end so the cashier can easily find the price!
- Keep a copy of the store coupon policy on hand-There may be the odd time you run into a problem, and by keeping a copy of the store's coupon policy handy it's easy to confirm any concerns.
- Circle the Expiry Date on the Coupon-I find more time is wasted at the cash when the cashier searches for the expiry date. If I have it circled it is quicker for them to verify.
- Ask a Manager First if you need Clarification-If you have a coupon you are unsure of, ask a Manager before you shop! When asking a Manager to get permission you save time, and any hassle at the cash!
