What to keep in mind when making sure your coupons are valid...
*Knowing what is expected and typically found on a coupon will help you in making sure that your coupons are legitimate (especially printable online coupons), if you don’t know please contact the company to be certain. Generally you want to make sure there is a barcode, valid expiry date, and Canadian redemption address before redeeming you coupon. If you redeem a fraudulent coupon, the store will lose out on that money as the company will not honor the coupon. This could result in stores tightening coupon policies, or eliminating them altogether, and no one wants that!!
*Verify the expiry date to ensure the coupon is still valid at the intended time of redemption, it also helps to highlight the expiry date as you find/receive coupons, or mark them in some other way that lets you know quickly and easily when the coupon expires!
*Following the wording on the coupons, such as “1 coupon per person” or “cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer” is another important rule! Again, breaking these rules will result in the store not being reimbursed for the coupons redeemed, and may result in changes in coupon policies to avoid this in the future.
Specific Terms On Your Coupons--
When it comes to couponing, one of the areas where questions frequently arise is trying to understanding what the terms and conditions on the coupons really mean to us bargain hunters!
Here’s a summary of the terms and conditions you’ll typically find on Canadian coupons:
Customer or Consumer - The person making the purchase
Purchase - One single item from your cart, therefor, every item is it’s very own purchase
Transaction - All items totalled on one purchase receipt
Limit one coupon per customer/per person: You may only use one coupon for each customer present making the purchase. Some stores may allow the purchases to be combined on one receipt and others will require each person to complete their own transaction to redeem this type of coupon.
Limit one coupon per household: Pretty self explanatory, you may only redeem a maximum of one coupon per household.
Limit one coupon per purchase: You can use one identical coupon on each like item purchased per transaction
Limit one coupon per transaction: You may only use one identical coupon per transaction. To use more than one of the same coupon you would have to do separate transactions.
Not valid with any other coupon/offer: Cannot be used in conjunction with another coupon, rebate or discount, but is still able to be combined with a sale price.
**Coupons that state "not valid with any other offer" are still stackable at London Drugs stores provided they don't state "not valid with any other COUPON offer"!
No Facsimiles: You are not permitted to make copies of this coupon. While it is not specifically expressed on all coupons, you may NEVER photocopy coupons. It’s a form of coupon fraud.
